Tactile Code is a not-for-profit initiative revealing the fun and power of creative programming to children. We provide guidance, resources and training for educators to teach creative coding.

Who is it for?

Tactile Code(TC) supports educators with teaching programming to children between 9 to 18 years old. This includes resources and training to help teachers tackle the new curriculum and methods to engage collaboration using coding for art, music and movement.

What is taught?

Programming is a taught alongside computational thinking to encourage a holistic approach to coding. Topics range from basic computing concepts to generative art and integrating physical objects with code. Open source platforms with a low threshold and no ceiling are used as the medium, these include Processing and Arduino.

Why is it important?

In the same way that basic reading and writing skills open up many worlds; exploring how code can integrate with sound, touch and vision can provide a positive shift in the way we view and apply technology. Turning our future generation from passive consumers into active producers.
